HIGHLIGHTS

• Popularly used as  – poinciana, peacock flower, red bird of paradise, Mexican bird of paradise, dwarf poinciana, pride of Barbados, flos pavonis, and flamboyant-de-jardin.
• Flower – bright orange-yellow
• Edible – The immature seeds found in its green pods are known to be edible,, but its mature seeds are said to be poisonous.
• Growth – Fast growth rate
• Uses – Used for the treatment of inflammation,ulcers,fevers,tumors etc.

PLANTING & CARE

• Temperature – Prefers temperature is of 20-30°C in the green, red, and far-red light regimes.
• Water – Newly planted– Water regularly after first planted. Very drought tolerant once established.
• Light – Grown in climates with light to moderate freezing, plant will die back to the ground depending on cold, but will rebound in mid- to late spring.
• Fertilizer –  Fertilizer is okay but not always necessary. The plant thrives with the right temperature, soil, and water.
• Pruning –  Prune back early each spring to remove dead or damaged branches.
